This morning Sunshine Village Ski Resort is advising skiers that the ski hill will be closed today as Parks Canada has shut down the access road. The closure has been implemented due to heavy snow coinciding with an extreme avalanche danger. Current danger rating for Banff, Kootenay, Yoho and Jasper National Parks is extreme from alpine to valley bottom. The Parks Canada avalanche forecast is reporting "natural and explosive triggered storm slabs have been observed at tree-line and alpine locations in past 48 hours." Temperatures along much of the Bow Valley from Lake Louise to Canmore are expected to remain above freezing until Thursday night.
