Summer isn’t even close to being over.

While you are out and about this weekend, we want to remind you that the Town of Canmore and the Canmore and Area Mountain Bike Association still have their “Name a Trail” contest going on until September 1st.

Although it is going to be hot this weekend, we are looking at some possible rain coming on Monday and Tuesday, and what is a perfect rainy day activity? Movies. artsPlace’s movie screenings are back and this Tuesday they will be showing the American drama written and directed by Lee Isaac Chung, Minari is the 2021 Academy Award-winning film. Speaking of artsPlace, they recently unveiled a community-created art installation in the lobby of the Canmore General Hospital in honour of our healthcare workers. The mural was created over several months during some of the most challenging times of the pandemic. Hundreds of Bow Valley residents were involved with the 300 tiled art installation.

To create this large installation, artsPlace teamed up with Mosaic Murals to produce local artist Libby Amber Pryor’s sketch, which was the foundation of the piece. Each title has been painted by a member of the community and pays tribute to health care workers. Make sure to check it out the next time you visit the hospital.

Have a great weekend everyone! Stay safe and have fun! XOXO 51° North
